Ramakkalmettu is a scenic village on the eastern extremity of kanjirappally diocese bordering Tamil Nadu. The society of the region is a curious mix of different religions and communities and catholics are very few in number.The inhabitants were very poor and uneducated. A U.P school had been functioning there under the management of the parish Church to serve here for the education and training of the children and the upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden.The parish priest and the parishioners desired the presence of the sisters. As a result St.Joseph's Clarist Convent was established there on 29th May 1978. In 1986  a creche', with  the recognition and financial support of the Central social Board, was started. Since the establishment of the Convent  sisters have been rendering valuable services for the moral, spiritual and material well-being of  the people.
